I am a Japanese youth.
In this site, I introduce my mother country "Japan".

I'm happy you have an interest in Japan.


Japan is an island country.
Japan is located in the east side of the Eurasian Continent.


Japan consists of four main islands and many other smaller islands.
In Japan, approximately two-thirds of the land is the forest.


Japan belongs to the temperate zone.

(Most of Japan belong to the temperate zone.
Hokkaido belongs to the subarctic zone, and Okinawa belongs to the subtropical zone.)

We have four seasons in Japan.
In Japan , we can enjoy the view of each season.

Japan's population is about 130 million people.

In Japan, the population tends to be concentrated in the large cities such as Tokyo and Osaka.

Japan has problems with the declining birth rate and aging population.


In Japan, children generally go to elementary schools for six years from age 6.
After elementary school graduation, they go to the junior high school for three years.
In Japan, attendance at elementary and junior high school is compulsory.

After junior high school graduation, the students more than 90% enter the high school.

In rural areas, many young people moved to urban areas after finishing high school to enter a university or for finding work.


In Japan, We speak mostly Japanese.

We learn English at school. So, we can understand a little English.
Some pople learn foreign languages other than English.

It is said that it is difficult to study Japanese.
In Japan, we use several kinds of characters.

In American and European countries, people usually use the alphabet.
In addition, in Japan, we use "Hiragana", "Katakana", and "Kanji".
We use that separately.



In Japan, ball games such as soccer and baseball, basketball, tennis etc. are popular.
In addition, swimming and track and field, the cycling etc,.are popular, too.
The winter sports such as ski and snowboarding are popular, too.
